Guide to Busan: Seomyeon Shopping and Food Street

By 11:17 PM

Hi dearies! I'm back with another post in my Guide to Busan series ^^ Up in this post, I will show you the things to eat & where to shop in Busan!
If you have not been to Busan, I would highly recommend booking your accommodation in Seomyeon area! Why? That's because of all the food streets and shopping all around! There's so much activity going on from day to night, it's simply the "Hongdae" in Busan! :D
Here's where Seomyeon is located on the subway map:
Seomyeon is located near the centre of Busan and is the interchange for the orange and green lines, making it convenient for you to transfer towards either Haeundae (Green Line) or Jagalchi (Orange Line) direction.

This is one of my favourite streets, and it's none other than the Seomyeon First Street or Food Street filled with all the street food as well as cafes & restaurants!
I was so excited and was pointing here, there, everywhere on things I wana try to eat! Then we chanced upon this restaurant and went in for our first meal in Busan after seeing the pictures of the cold noodles 냉면 Naengmyeon displayed outside.
Oh gosh, this was the best 냉면 Naengmyeon B & I had during the entire trip! Tried to find other stalls in Seoul but the taste just wasn't the same as this. And woah the Mandus! Piping hot!! YUMMY!!
Oh yes, guess what's in this pot? :D It's really yummy broth! Perfect to go with your meal! MUST TRY! Hot and tastes really good! We initially did not know what was this till the kind ahjumma told us to try! Would have missed out on the good stuff if we did not try haha!
The spice level was just right and there were scissors provided for you to cut up the noodles so that it's easier to eat ^^

Piping hot mandus! YUMMY!
And one last picture of this bowl of goodness! Oh yes, did i mention how nice the ahjummas were? They provided us with a menu with pictures upon knowing that we are tourists haha.. The price of this meal was also pretty affordable, think it was below 15000 won in total :D Hope you manage to try out this restaurant when you head to Seomyeon!

Restaurant Name: 서면 개금밀면
Address: 부산시 부산진구 서면로 68번길 39
*Thanks to one of my readers who found the exact address!^^*

And.. after eating, our shopping mode was on!
Shopaholics would love Seomyeon underground shopping stalls with endless stalls of fashionable clothes on both sides. Best part was the underground shopping area seems endless as it continues connecting to another part of Seomyeon that leads to a shopping mall too ^^ This is on top of all the other shopping places on the ground level! Shopaholics heaven!!^^
The Seomyeon underground shopping area is great for wet weather plans too!
Did I also mention how much I love shopping at Korea's Olive Young? It's like Singapore's Watsons/Guardian. Check out these cute boxes of tea bags! Perfect for gifts!^^
And how can I forget about the cosmetics :D Peri Pera was one of the brands that were not common in Singapore previously till I saw it on Watsons shelves lately. Price wise, it will definitely be cheaper to purchase them in Korea ;)
Grabbed a few bottles of these lip tints as I love how lasting my makeup was upon trying it out :D Best part about lip tints would be the dual function as a cheek tint too!

If you are looking for some cafe hopping adventures, Seomyeon has it too! We chanced upon this Audrey Hepburn theme cafe on the food street and the decor looks so pretty, we had to try it out ^^

Here's what we had: Bingsu and a slice of cake ^^
Taste wise, the Bingsu was not bad :D The cake tasted pretty light and yummy. However, it would not be something I would rave about. Dining in this cafe was more for the ambience ;D
There's some souvenirs for Audrey Hepburn lovers to purchase too. ^^

For us, the street food mattered more! Hehe! This!!! Fishcake! The number 1 street food you must have on a cold night! We would try to eat this every night if we saw this hahahah!
And yes, you can ask for a bowl of soup to go with it! Super good!!!
Just check out my gluttony, satisfied look lol! I miss you fishcakes! I will be back very soon!;)
On our way back to the hotel, we walked past Dunkin Donuts and I just had to buy these! Too cute!!! <3
And yes, this is B's weak spot! The sticks of marinated meat! Soo sooo good!! Super satisfying to hold one stick and gobble them up on our way back :D
Street food will always remain as our ultimate favourite!^^ Oh yes, don't underestimate the level of spiciness for the sauce in Korea. For me, I have to go for less spicy or not I will be rushing into a convenience store to buy the peach juice again hahaha.. Nevertheless, it was a very "shiok" experience hehe!

And here's our loots for Day 1 in Busan ^^ B grabbed quite a few pairs of pants below S$20 while I bought 5000 won/ 10000 won tops, makeup, shoes and socks etc.
Day 2 was even more damaging lol!
Hope that you will like my recommendations and that they will be useful during your trip to Busan!^^
Next up, I will try to finish up my Busan posts with our visit to Jalgachi, Haeundae area as well as Gwangalli beach! <3 Check back again soon~!

Based on my experience, I think that there are more stalls opening at the food street from late afternoon to evenings. Didn't see alot of street stalls available in the morning :( However, the restaurants and cafes might be open in the morning though! :) Hope this helps!

    2. Hello Chloe,

Thank you for your guides on Korea! Looks like im not the only one wondering about the naengmyeon restaurant. Planning for my trip, I got curious and decided to google the korean words based on your picture and i managed to find out the restaurant's name and address!

      Restaurant Name: 서면 개금밀면
Address: 부산시 부산진구 서면로 68번길 39

I googled the restaurant's name and and found many korean bloggers blogging about it. Also used the google translate to figure out roughly what they are saying. (Example: http://m.blog.naver.com/h00000n/220454866825)

Thanks for the recommendation! Will definitely check out in the summer :)
